Testing the 85gr Norma Monolithic Hollow Point (MHP), a bullet normally designed for .380 ACP and 9mm personal defense ammo, but this time loaded into a .357 SIG case.
In .380 ACP, this round runs about 1,280 fps with 309 ft-lbs of energy. In 9mm, it’s slightly faster at around 1,310 fps and 324 ft-lbs. But in .357 SIG, it’s a whole different story. Hitting over 2,000 fps and nearly 800 ft-lb of energy. That puts it right at the level of classic .357 Magnum power.
To really see what it can do, I ran these .357 SIG ballistics test through the chronograph and into ballistic gel at close range, then inspected the bullet and casing after the shot. If you’ve ever wondered about .357 SIG vs .357 Magnum, or how lighter defensive rounds behave at higher velocities, this test shows the results.
All testing was done safely on a private bay under controlled conditions. Please don’t attempt to recreate what you see in this video. This is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
