The usually calm Playa de Gandía has been transformed by Storm Alice, the powerful system battering Spain’s east coast with relentless rain, roaring winds, and towering waves. Although the red weather warnings for parts of southeast Spain have now been lifted, amber alerts remain from the south of Tarragona down to north of Alicante — including Gandía — with yellow warnings stretching across Valencia, Ibiza, Formentera, and parts of Majorca. The Spanish weather agency AEMET, which named the storm, continues to track its slow, dangerous movement across the western Mediterranean.

Flights have been cancelled, Murcia has seen evacuations, and total rainfall in some areas may exceed 250–300 mm (10–12 inches). In Gandía, flooding has already hit low-lying streets and beachfront areas, while strong onshore winds send waves smashing over the promenade.

Meteorologists link Alice to a DANA — Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos — a phenomenon known for producing extreme, slow-moving downpours. More rain is forecast through the weekend, keeping the coast on alert.

La habitualmente tranquila Playa de Gandía se ha visto transformada por la borrasca Alice, el potente sistema que azota la costa este de España con lluvias incesantes, vientos rugientes y olas imponentes. Capturado aquí: un atrevido bañista desafiando la tormenta, zambulléndose en el agitado Mediterráneo mientras los relámpagos iluminan la costa: un momento surrealista en medio del caos natural.

Aunque se han levantado las alertas meteorológicas rojas para algunas zonas del sureste de España, se mantienen las alertas ámbar desde el sur de Tarragona hasta el norte de Alicante, incluyendo Gandía, con alertas amarillas que se extienden por Valencia, Ibiza, Formentera y partes de Mallorca. La agencia meteorológica española AEMET, que dio nombre a la borrasca, continúa rastreando su lento y peligroso movimiento por el Mediterráneo occidental.

Se han cancelado vuelos, se han producido evacuaciones en Murcia y la precipitación total en algunas zonas podría superar los 250-300 mm (10-12 pulgadas). En Gandía, las inundaciones ya han afectado calles bajas y zonas costeras, mientras que los fuertes vientos terrestres provocan olas que rompen el paseo marítimo.

Los meteorólogos relacionan Alice con una DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos), un fenómeno conocido por producir aguaceros extremos y de movimiento lento. Se pronostican más lluvias durante el fin de semana, lo que mantiene la costa en alerta.
