Description: Friday. Black and white news footage. Footage of Governor James Howard Edmondson and his family visiting Keesler Field near Gulfport, Mississippi. Edmondson and his family, along with members of his staff, left for Keesler Air Force Base in an Air National Guard plane. There, they took a tour of the facilities and attended a dinner at the Officer's Club. Keesler was one of the stops along the way to the governor's convention that took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Footage from a legislative council executive committee meeting organized to begin interim studies for recommendations to the next session. Includes brief interviews with legislatures concerning the proposed tax increase. More footage from the legislative council meeting. Legislatures share their thoughts on Governor Edmondson's "controversial" program to consolidate administrative powers of the state's eighteen higher education institutions. Other legislatures reflect on the legislative actions of the 27th legislative session. Footage of Leland Gourley, Governor Edmondson's administrative assistant, discussing his announcement of J.C. Cobb's removal from his position as secretary of the State Board of Pharmacy. Governor Edmondson had named William J. Vickers to replace Cobb, whose term had expired. Footage of a young man seated at a desk in an office swatting flies. Includes an interview with a man who talks about ways to get rid of breeding flies. Footage from interviews with members of the legislative council. The men discuss their thoughts on Governor Edmondson's plan for higher education, including facilities usage and consolidation of administrative power over eighteen Oklahoma higher education institutions. Silent footage of an Asian couple seated together, as well as footage of the woman getting fitted for a bridal gown.
