Hi! In this video I'll show a comparison of 4 different types of softbox lighting modifiers for videography. A BIG WHITE UMBRELLA, a BIG HEXADECAGON PARABOLIC SOFTBOX, the APUTURE DOME MINI II and a SMALL SILVER UMBRELLA.
BIG WHITE UMBRELLA (https://geni.us/sPDHe5Q)
Diffuser umbrellas are one of the cheapest lighting modifiers in the market. Since they're round in shape, it offers a round catchlight in your subject's eyes. Due to it being an open lighting modifier, that means there's going to be a lot more light spillage and is less directional than a parabolic softbox. Perfect for travelling as it's quite compact.
BIG HEXADECAGON PARABOLIC SOFTBOX (https://geni.us/c2xXIrL)
Parabolic umbrella softboxes are one of the simplest light modifiers both to set up and use. Since it is round in shape, it offers a round catch light in your subject's eyes. This softbox is deeper in shape so it offers a more subtle light drop-off. Popular for product, fashion, flat lays, portraits, and food shoots.
APUTURE DOME MINI II (https://geni.us/FnBnMF)
Based on a beauty dish, the Light Dome Mini II has a shallower design than normal or big Parabolic Softbox, making it the ideal choice for creatives needing a relative soft light in a more confined space.
SMALL SILVER UMBRELLA (https://amzn.to/3iFxQJp)
A silver umbrellas gives the light output more of a brilliant punch. So you'll be able to pick up more details from your subject. If you're looking for a punchy and contrasty look, this is a good option for you!
100W Bi-color Led Light (https://geni.us/ctdxh)
In real life, the color of light is rarely the same. A vintage lamp is much warmer than a winter sky, and in a single location, creatives can find hundreds of different color temperatures that are difficult to match. The flexibility of a bi-color light guarantees not only easy color matching, but also the ability to think creatively about what hues make each scene look best.
