Cyfweliad ysgafn efo teulu y Cheshires o Benarth. Teulu o ddeg sy'n allfudo i Awstralia pell. Mae'r plant i gyd yn hapus heblaw am un...
Yn ystod y Chwedegau ymfudodd cannoedd o deuluoedd o Gymru i Awstralia. Roedd nifer wedi cymeryd mantais o gynllun Llywodraeth Awstralia, yr 'Assisted Passage Scheme'. Bwriad y cynllun oedd chwyddo poblogaeth y wlad a chael gweithwyr allweddol i nifer o'r diwydiannau newydd. Yr enw a rhoddwyd ar yr ymfudwyr oedd 'Ten Pound Poms' neu 'Ten Pound Tourists'. Y rheswm am hynny oedd mae dim ond deg punt oedd y tocyn cwch i bob oedolyn, tra fod y plant yn cael mynd am ddim.
Enghraifft enwog o un o'r ymfudwyr yma yw Julia Gillard, cyn Brifwenidog Awstralia. Ymfudodd y teulu i Awstralia o'r Barri ym Mro Morgannwg yn 1966.

During the Sixties hundreds of Welsh families went to live in Australia. Many took advantage of the 'Assisted Passage Scheme' operated by the Government of Australia. The term used by Australians for these immigrants was 'Ten Pound Poms' or 'Ten Pound Tourists'. The scheme hoped to increase the population of Australia and boost the workforce in growing industries. Adults were charged only ten pounds for their fare to Australia and children travelled for free.
An example of a well-known and very successful participant of this scheme is former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, who emigrated to Australia with her family from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan in 1966.
