🚉 How to Reach Matheran from Mumbai/Thane:
1️⃣ By Train:

Take a local train from Mumbai CST / Dadar / Thane towards Karjat/Khopoli.

Get down at Neral Station (Central Line).

From Neral, you have two options:
👉 Toy Train (Neral to Matheran) — if operational.
👉 Or hire a shared taxi (₹100–₹150 per person) or private cab (₹400–₹500) from Neral to Dasturi Car Point (last motorable point).

2️⃣ From Dasturi Car Point to Matheran Market:

No vehicles allowed beyond Dasturi.

You can either:
✅ Walk (2–3 km scenic trek)
✅ Hire a Horse or Hand-Pulled Rickshaw

🚂 Matheran Toy Train Information:
Route: Neral to Matheran

Distance: ~21 km (takes 2 hours approx.)

Runs through dense forest, mountains, tunnels, and curves — a unique and beautiful experience!

Note: During heavy monsoon, the toy train service from Neral to Matheran is sometimes suspended for safety. However, the short shuttle train between Aman Lodge (near Dasturi) to Matheran Market usually runs even during rains.

Aman Lodge to Matheran Shuttle: 15–20 mins ride through lush greenery and mist — a must-experience!

Neral to Matheran: ₹300–₹400 (2nd Class) | ₹600–₹1000 (1st Class)

Aman Lodge to Matheran: ₹55 (2nd Class) | ₹300 (1st Class)
