Pottery wheels! Which ones are good and which ones to avoid. 5 wheels under £200 online.

HELLO POTTERS this is my first video specifically made for Youtube so please be kind.

Let's have a look at 5 pottery wheels that you can get on amazon, eBay, Temu and all over the internet that often look too good to be true. I have thrown on them all (videos uploading soon) and here I earmark my three favourites for a beginner or anyone on a budget.

The only thing I dont like about pottery is that it's an expensive pursuit and some people feel priced out before they can begin. But it's all changing and I am more than happy to test things out and show you things side by side so you dont need to make any expensive mistakes.

Here from left to right we have the

Small ceramics wheel - a super cute tiny wheel that is surprisingly strong, well made and perfectly eye catching for those viral vids.

The square paNt wheel that is all over Temu - Its ok and I have thrown vases and cups on this but in a line up with these five wheels it is the absolute worst,. doesn't even come close to being good.

The white paNt wheel - the total opposite of the smaller paNt wheel and I can see this one becoming my new fave as it's a bit bigger so gives you more choices of what to throw. It is just a bit ugly... so very close to being a batteries not included vibe alien - but just misses (thats an old movie reference because im old) for £62 this is an astounding wheel for the price!

The Insnug (polly pocket) wheel - Its a really great wheel and I suspect the same motor as the paNt white wheel, but it just feels cheaper. looks better and has the cool design features but fundamentally the two feel the same. this one came with the wrong plug in the box so annoyed me a bit. and I always like an ugly underdog so my heart went to the ugly paNt wheel with the diamanté stickers on for no reason. The Big wheel - well it looks big here but it's still a small wheel compared to pro wheels. I dont have a pro wheel and I do pottery for a living, I was on the great pottery throw down and I got quite far. You dont need a. £1500 wheel to learn the ropes with ceramics. This is a great wheel, I have one and use it for most of my big throws (I also have kick wheel that is pedal powered in the garden)
If you are someone that has messaged me about a first wheel then this has been great for me!
the only downside is that the drip tray is huge and so is the mess. for mess to fun ratio the smallest wheels are the most fun!

If your throwing bigger and need the batt system, the bay seller kerrykerrance is who I got mine from. If you search "POTTERY WHEEL TILE BATT WITH FIVE 145MM SQUARE INSERT IN 9MM MARINE PLY " you should find them and you can choose sizes etc.

the jelly fish is just a £1 shammy leather cut into a circle, when its wet it clings to the wheel head and the batt system and means you never have to wire your projects off! just leave them to dry off the batt and then trim them.
