(📹 5/23/2025) I'm back. I've been crazy busy with my life, and I was crazy busy in NYC, so I wasn't really able to put a lot of new material out. Please forgive me if I continue random intermissions.
Anyways, this is the first elevator I'm posting from my trip to NYC the other week, and also the first NYC subway elevator I'm posting. Here are the elevators at the Clark Street Subway Station down in Brooklyn in NYC. From reading the Wikipedia article on this station, each elevator has their own install and modernization years, listed in the most confusing way possible. These were then replaced/modernized in 2000 by a generic company, then modded again in 2021/22 by another company with Innovation fixtures. These are quite fun, and they are incredibly fast for their distance. They can get pretty freaking busy too. The leveling could be sped up though. Interesting how the front of the cabs on these are asymmetrical. These are 2:1 roped and probably have Imperial ACPM 800 series gearless machines. I'm glad I rode these post-modernization because the old elevators look pretty sketchy compared to the more appealing feel of these.
NYC's subway system has SEVEN equivalents of the Forest Glen Metro station, down in Maryland: This station, Court St*, 168th St, 181st St (A & 1 lines), 190 St, and 191 St. All of them have their distinctive quirks and pretty much go 500 fpm.
*I had the hardest time of my life trying to find these
