A visit to the plot and clearing some beds, Summer isn't quite wrapped but it has that ending feeling. You can also find me in my kitchen making apple cake from apples harvested from the garden (recipe below) and how I store my Sungold tomatoes.

Recipe: Adapted from BBC Good Food - Dorset Apple Traybake:
225g butter
450g cooking apples
Lemon juice
280g sugar
4 eggs
1tsp vanilla extract
2tsp baking powder
Demerara sugar to sprinkle on top
Heat oven to 180C, 160C (Fan) or Gas 4.
Line a baking tin - approx. 27cm x 20cm.
Peel, core and slice apples - squeeze over lemon juice to reduce browning.
Put butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour and baking powder into large bowl, mix until smooth.
Spread half mixture into tin.
Arrange apple slices.
Spread remaining mixture on top. Sprinkle with demerara sugar.
Bake 45 minutes until golden and spring to touch.
Leave in tin to cool for 10 minutes.
Remove, slice and enjoy hot or cold.
