Route 66 Visitor Center & Native American Petroglyphs at Washington State Park Missouri

Day 14 of our PA to Missouri Road Trip takes us from Springfield, Missouri to some unforgettable stops along the way. Our first destination was the Route 66 Welcome Center in Conway, MO, a unique travel stop located on I‑44 Westbound between Lebanon and Marshfield. This is a must‑see for anyone traveling the Mother Road (Route 66), offering history, photo opportunities, and a chance to experience the nostalgia of America’s most famous highway.

From there, we headed to Washington State Park, Missouri, where we explored incredible petroglyphs and learned about local history. The park is home to approximately 350 petroglyphs believed to have been carved by Native Americans, making it one of Missouri’s most fascinating cultural sites.

This day combined the charm of Route 66 with the deep history of Missouri’s state parks, giving us a mix of roadside Americana and ancient heritage.
