Perched at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet above sea level, the hilltop of Mari in the Hazara Hills of Haripur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a forgotten gem—hidden in the folds of time and nature. Once an important British-era site, this secluded peak is now a quiet, unexplored place with little more than fading legends and traces of a colonial past.
A Lost British-Era Rest House
During British colonial rule in the Indian subcontinent, forest rest houses were built across the highlands for administrative purposes and to provide accommodation for officers during forest inspections or military movements. One such rest house was reportedly constructed at Mari.
