Season 8, Episode 8: In New York, young mother Kathine Martin is brutally murdered in her kitchen with a gunshot and stabbing. Investigators question her husband, Jim Martin, and former employee Carlos Cajigas and his accomplice Michael Fernández. Forensic evidence, including analysis of fibres from Kathine's jumper by expert Schwartz and ballistics, links the culprits. In Idaho, elderly couple Leo and Mary Downward are murdered in their home. Detective Victor Rodriguez and Sergeant Kim Marshall investigate. Shoe prints and a Remington .22 calibre rifle are the only evidence. Expert Dona Shepardson Mid and mathematician Eric Greenway use geometry to link Lanny Buchanan, Robert Buchanan's younger brother, to the scene in Bonville County.
