Raynaud's is a common autonomic problem seen in many patients, where the body has an exaggerated reaction to cold that causes the blood vessels to constrict. This leads to the hands and feet turning white, red, or purple before recovering, as the blood flow is temporarily reduced. The hyperactive response in the small blood vessels is not just limited to the extremities, but can also be seen in other areas like the brain. Understanding the underlying cause of this heightened sensitivity to cold is important in properly addressing Raynaud's phenomenon.
