How to Create an iOS 7 App Icon in Photoshop

Today's tutorial will cover some tips and tricks to help you as you're creating icons for iOS 7, or any other mobile platform. Smart Objects will help your workflow quite a bit!

Tools used in this tutorial:

Shape Tools: Several shapes were used in the making of this design, including the Rounded Rectangle and a custom shape. Within the Options Bar, you can set the fill and stroke (outline).

Smart Objects: By converting a layer to a Smart Object, you're able to maintain the layer's original state, allowing you to resize and add filters non-destructively. To convert a layer into a Smart Object, right click on the layer in your Layers Panel, and choose Convert to Smart Object.
