Slickrock Jeep Trail California | Lake Alpine | 2 Long Timers and 2 First timers

Ive been running slickrock since we were kids in the 1990s in the back of bills XJ - same rig that's in this video, except it was bone stock when he bought it new in 1991, and he took us down there in the early 90s from the north side to the first creek camp spot. Back then it was easy to do in a stock XJ. Not anymore . I ran it for the first time with my brother Jesse in our brother Sam's 1980s Nissan pathfinder on 33s janky junkyard lift and blown shocks with maxed out torsion bars with no droop, in the middle of the night , first jeep trail we had ever ran, it was a blast.


We hit the trail with two Jeep TJs, Dan and Justins rigs, both on 44s and 4:1 tcases, Bills Jeep Cherokee XJ on 8.8/44 with 231/300 doubler, 33s, long arms, cage, etc, and my Jeep wrangler JLUR on 37s , tackling granite slabs, water crossings, tight forest sections, and epic alpine views. This is one of the best technical trails in Northern California — perfect for built rigs looking for a solid day of wheeling.

I don't do good in the heat, I setup this trip about a week out once I saw the forecast was going to cool down a ton and possibly rain.

From steep rock climbs to scenic stops by the lake, this run had it all. Trail conditions were just right, and every rig held its own on this iconic route!

Help keep dispersed camping and jeep trails open: Pack out all of your trash, including human waste. Cans, bottles, brass, cardboard boxes. Don't trash the forest. You're a dick if you do. We all work hard to keep trails and camping open and It seems like they keep closing more and more trails, and dispersed camping. Let's not give them any more ammunicaiton. Join a offroad organization, join a local jeep club, start a jeep club, adopt a trail, donate time or money to a local jeep club that has already adopted a trail you like. Do something.

Trail Ettiquette :
Don't Drive off trail
Dont block the trail if you can winch or strap a broken rig to the side of the trail
always fully put out your campfire - can you put your hand over it?
If you're wheeling slow, and folks ask to pass, let them pass
Don't pass off trail
Help others on the trail that need help if no one else is helping them already
