Earlier this spring, I flew down to Sun City West, Arizona, for a relaxing family trip to visit relatives and soak up some sun. While most of the trip was spent catching up with loved ones, I carved out a quick detour into Phoenix to attend Kyusha Club’s March gathering—a curated event showcasing an impressive lineup of high-quality retro Japanese and select European cars.

The industrial setting near the airport provided the perfect backdrop for the meet, with gritty textures and wide-open space contrasting beautifully with the polished cars. It was energizing to see Arizona's vintage car culture is alive and thriving, with enthusiasts coming together to celebrate their passion in such a dialled-in setting.

Just a few days after flying back to Vancouver, Dylan and I kept the momentum going with a shoot featuring some special machines closer to home. We linked up with our friend Sid to photograph his RWB Porsche 997, a car we never get tired of capturing, and then spent time with Mitsuaki-san to shoot his wild zokusha bike—a proper nod to Japanese biker gang aesthetics—in a studio space out in Richmond. The controlled lighting and clean environment gave us a great canvas to get creative with both builds, making for a perfect post-trip transition back into local content and car culture.
