In Episode 6 of the $500 buggy build, I try MIG welding for the first time and I honestly wasn’t prepared for how big the difference was.
A hub that was previously welded with flux core ended up breaking, so I switched to MIG welding using argon and re-did the repair. Cleaner welds, better control, and way more confidence. After rewelding the hub, I reassembled the spool and bolted the CV axles back together.
I also picked up some $8 welding glasses from Temu to use for tack welding and quick work surprisingly useful for the price.
Still learning, still fixing mistakes, and still making progress in the garage.
More fabrication and buggy upgrades coming soon.
