In this video "How to fight one's mind" from the Arpana Trust channel; Param Pujya Ma gives a direct, assertive spiritual teaching on conquering the negative and egoistic tendencies of the mind.
Summary of the key instructions and points:
1. Directly Confront the Mind
Ma advises taking a confrontational approach: "Have a boxing bout with it" and tell your mind to "shut up" [00:12, 02:04].
The mind is described as a "nasty fellow" that only has evil within it, and it does not love the Master (Guru) [00:34].
A person who is constantly projecting negativity onto others, wanting to "throw them down in the gutters," must first destroy these thoughts within themselves [01:02].
2. Recognize and Renounce the Ego
The individual is challenged: If you have come for the spirit of the Master, you must be able to fight your mind [00:43].
If you can't, something is seriously wrong [00:51].
The mind's actions (like thinking one is right or knowledgeable) are driven by pretense [01:12, 02:17].
Ma asks where the kindness and generosity, which the person received from the Master, have gone [01:34]. The Master was generous even when the disciples were undeserving, humbling himself while the disciples trample over him with their "dirty mind" [01:43, 01:54].
3. Embrace Humility and Devotion
To conquer the mind, one must become humble [02:17, 02:26].
Humility is the only way to realize one's own mistakes.
The devotee must confess to the Master:
"I've lost my way... and I can't conquer my mind because this mind is the most nasty thing" [02:41].
Develop devotion and remember the true purpose of being there: to abide in the spirit of the Master, not to rule or to placate the demands of the mind [02:58, 03:10].
The world of the mind and the world of the spirit are "two alien worlds" that cannot coexist [03:18, 03:28].
