Amid ongoing rehabilitation work on Parliament Hill, Centre Block, East Block and West Block have been extensively photographed and scanned by lasers so experts can produce digital 3D models of their physical characteristics. This technology – known as Building Information Modelling (BIM) – is another fascinating high-tech tool in the toolbox that allows architects, engineers and other contractors to work together as they rehabilitate and modernize these historic buildings.
Dans le cadre des travaux de réhabilitation sur la Colline du Parlement, l’édifice du Centre, l’édifice de l’Est et l’édifice de l’Ouest ont été largement photographiés et scannés au laser afin que des experts puissent produire des modèles 3D de leurs caractéristiques physiques. Cette technologie, appelée modélisation des données du bâtiment (MDB), est un autre outil de pointe fascinant dans la boîte à outils qui permet aux architectes, ingénieurs et autres entrepreneurs à travailler ensemble à réhabiliter et moderniser ces bâtiments patrimoniaux.
