This video animation is about several types of gas carrier, based on IGC Code.
Gas carriers are divided into two main groups:
1. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Carriers, which are designed to carry mainly butane, propane, butadiene, propylene, Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) and are also able to carry anhydrous ammonia.
2. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Carriers, which are designed to carry liquefied natural gas (which is mostly methane).
IMO divide Gas Carrier into 2 types;
1. Independent tank. Independent tanks are completely self-supporting and do not form of the ship’s hull structure.
2. Integral tank. Integral tanks form a structural part of the ship’s hull and are influenced by the same loads which stress the hull structure
