In today’s interview, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Francesco Di Chiara, a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon with deep expertise in advanced minimally invasive surgery, including the treatment of thoracic endometriosis. Dr. Francesco practices at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he introduced Uniportal VATS—a single-incision surgical technique used to treat complex thoracic conditions, including endometriosis in the chest cavity.

In this conversation, we explore how thoracic endometriosis can present in patients, how it’s diagnosed, and what you can do if you're experiencing symptoms. We also cover the role of hormone therapy, new research in the field, and why thoracic endo can sometimes go undetected—especially in patients who don’t have classic pelvic symptoms.
