Will it Run? Abandoned 1984 Volvo 240, sitting for Decades, Still Ready for A Rally. Lot 32 Clean

I couldn't believe the number of people that were asking about and interested in this old car. When I bought the property, I was told that the car ran, but it was obvious immediately that the elements had taken too much of her. The car seems to have been parked since 2012, and it has sunk into the topsoil right to its undercarriage, and 13 years of iron in the wet ground doesn't leave a very safe car.

I knew it wouldn't be possible to bring the old girl back to life as a daily driver, just because of safety, but it had to go and theres not many ways to get rid of an old car. I called the wreckers and the scrap yard in town, and they would not come because I am too far from town. If I hired a "tow" they would have to come with a flat bed, and it was just too expensive. My final option was to either borrow a trailer and haul it out, or try to drive it, and obviously driving it out sounded like a lot more fun. I also contacted the local lock smith, but they don't work on European cars.

It took a few hours of messing around, but once everything was connected, the old bird fired up. And can you believe, she ran flawlessly. This was the moment I began to really like this car. Throughout my life, I have been a bit of a collector, and transitioning into full time life on the road, and now with the small house, I just dont have room to collect things. If this car wasnt so terribly rusted on the chassis, I would have kept it, but it was just not the right decision for me.

We managed to get it to the dump, and I arranged for someone to get it from there. A gentleman that deals with used vehicles came and got it from the local dump, which officially makes the Destination Adventure Clean Up the Lot initiative, a success.
