The 12619/20 Matsyagandha Superfast Express is a daily Superfast Express train running between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) and Mangaluru Central. The train was introduced on 1 May 1998 as Mangalore-Kurla Express. The Matsyagandha Express travels through some of the very difficult terrains of India. Matsyagandha Express ( Train number 02619 run as special) travelling from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai (LTT) to Mangaluru Central became first train to take Roha-Veer double line on Konkan railway route on 30 August 2021 at 7.30p.m.
Matsyagandha literally means "Smell of Fish" - the appellation was given since the train runs along the fishing coast of Western India adjoining the Arabian Sea–Konkan Railway route. The name is based on a name of character from the epic Mahabharata. It is a story of Satyavati who smell like a fish (Matsyagandha). Matsyagandha is also a famous Marathi musical play written by Vasant Kanetkar. The train has become important link and emotional chord for natives of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts living in Mumbai and surrounding cities.
As the Route is electrified, an Arakkonam based WAP4 hauls the 12619/12620 train from end-to-end.
12619 Matsyagandha Express departs Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai at 15.20 and reaches Mangaluru Central(MAQ) at 7.30 A.M. next day,While 12620 Matsyagandha Express departs Mangaluru Central(MAQ)railway station at 14.35 and reaches Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai at 6.35 next day. However, during monsoon (rainy season) the train has different time table. The monsoon time table of Konkan railway Corporation Limited is generally from 15 June to 30 September of every year.
This service had a major accident on 16 June 2004, known as the Karanjadi train crash. It derailed and fell off a bridge after colliding with boulders on the tracks, killing 20 people near Karanjadi station.

Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (also known by its former name Kurla Terminus, station code: LTT) is a railhead and a major railway terminus in the Kurla suburb of Mumbai, India. LTT is managed by the Central Railway. The Kurla and Tilak Nagar suburban railway stations are located nearby. It is one of the five railway terminals within Mumbai, the others being Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Dadar on the Central line, and Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus on the Western line.
LTT is located in the middle of two suburban railway stations, Tilak Nagar and Kurla, on the Harbour line. It is easily accessible through Tilak Nagar as a direct overhead bridge is made to LTT from Tilak Nagar. A share rickshaw service is available from Kurla to LTT via level crossing. The average opening of the level crossing gate is 20 minutes.

Mangalore Central railway station (officially Mangaluru Central railway station)(station code: MAQ) is an NSG–3 category Indian railway station in Palakkad railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is the main railway terminus in the city of Mangalore which lies in the heart of the city. It is one of the major railway stations in Karnataka state and it is the biggest terminal station under Palakkad railway division. There is also another railway station named Mangalore Junction railway station, previously known as Kankanady railway station. The Mangalore region provides the highest freight revenue to the Palakkad division, which sums up to 90 per cent of the total revenue which the Palakkad division generates. Mangalore Central comes under the Southern Railway and also provides connectivity for Konkan Railway and South Western Railway of the Indian Railways. It is one of the 5 central railway stations of India.
Mangalore Central railway station is located at Old Kent road, Hampankatta. The other major railway station in the city, Mangalore Junction located at Darbar Hill, Padil, Mangalore 575007.

Popular trains includes Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express, Mangaluru Central–Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express (via Alappuzha), Vivek Express (Santragachi), Chennai Mail, Malabar Express etc Southern Railway connects Kanyakumari, Chennai, Kacheguda, Bengaluru. South Western Railway connects Bengaluru, Vijayapura. Konkan Railway connects Mumbai.
