Amaro Pargo, fue un personaje histórico de extraordinaria importancia en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII, época convulsa y de cambios, con una Guerra de Sucesión Española y el cambio dinástico, de los Austrias a los Borbones, los sucesivos conflictos bélicos contra Inglaterra y sus naciones aliadas, el auge de la Piratería y del Corsarismo, la Carrera de Indias, la regulación y fiscalización del comercio, etc...
