How to Paint EASY Acrylic Lotus Flower | FOR BEGINNERS | Acrylic Painting on Canvas

Paint colours:
Blue
Green
Brown
White
Red
Yellow

Brushes used:
Large sized round brush
Medium sized round brush
Small pointed brush
Medium flat brush

INSTRUCTIONS
(00:04) Draw outline of lotus. I used a 4H pencil to draw the outline of my lotus.

Using large sized round brush

(00:40) - Place blue and green paint onto canvas and blend. We are painting the base.
Add some brown paint on the the canvas to darken the base. Blend together.
(01:33) - Add more blue to the canvas at the edge of the already painted background and blend in. Continue to paint the base and add blue in when needed. Make sure you don’t paint the lotus, paint around the outline.
(01:58) - Add some white in to a layer of highlights for the background. The background is water, so we want it to look like the light is hitting the water.
(02:16) - Mix red with white to get pink. Paint in the edges of some of the petals, this will be one of the darker shades. Add in more white to lighten the pink a little and continue painting in the petals.
(02:53) - add in a little blue to create a light lilac colour and apply to some of the petals.
(03:31)- apply white to petals for highlights, try to blend in as much as possible. if there are hard lines, we will soften them later.
(04:35) - go back to the dark pink mix (white and red) and apply to some petals to define them.
(04:49) - Mix red and blue to create a dark purple and apply to painting. This colour is used for shadows.
(07:26) - Using a small pointed brush mix yellow with a little red to create an orange yellow. Apply to the middle of the lotus. This is the lotus’s centre.
(07:41) - wash brush and apply some white to the brush. Dab on the white in the centre.
(07:51) - Using a medium flat brush, mix in green into the orange yellow that was mixed. Apply paint on to background, the green are the lotus pads.
(08:26) - mix white and red to create pink and apply a few lines onto the canvas. Add a little yellow and white to the current mix and apply more lines onto the canvas.
(08:35) - mix red and blue to create dark purple and apply to top area of the canvas, this gives off a more whimsical look.
(08:55) - apply white paint onto a flat brush and flick the paint onto the canvas. Add a touch a white to a couple areas.
(09:03) Put in some white highlights and finishing touches.
