So Olandria Carthan just spoke at Harvard Business School, and if you thought the internet would give this woman her flowers, you clearly haven't been paying attention. Instead of celebrating a Black woman from reality TV making it to one of the most prestigious universities in the world, people are in the comments losing their absolute minds asking what she could possibly have to talk about.
One comment literally said, "No offense, but I don't understand why a TV star would be speaking at a university." And that right there is exactly why we need to talk about this, because the disrespect is loud, and honestly, it says way more about the people questioning her than it does about Olandria herself.
Here's the thing that people need to understand. When you come from reality TV, especially as a Black woman, people will never let you evolve past that first impression. It doesn't matter what you accomplish after the cameras stop rolling. In their minds, you'll always just be "that girl from Love Island." And that's exactly what's happening to Olandria right now.
