In this time-lapse painting video, I bring to life a vintage-inspired figure based on early 1900s fortune teller postcards—specifically the whimsical work of Clare Victor Dwiggins (aka “Dwig”).
While the main image isn’t one of Dwig’s originals, it echoes his style and spirit. His fortune postcards often revealed a backward message you’d hold to a mirror to read. For this one, I placed the word “Create” where the fortune would have been—because that’s the message I needed.
The painting is a mixture of acrylic paint and paper collage, created on a wooden panel. No voiceover—just the sound of the process, music, and layers coming together.
