A gasket is a mechanical sealing component placed between two mating surfaces to prevent leakage. It is mainly used in oil, gas, steam, water, and chemical services.
👉 Main Purpose of a Gasket:
To provide tight sealing
To withstand vibration and pressure
To ensure system safety
In industrial plants, gaskets are manufactured from various materials such as rubber, metal, graphite, PTFE (Teflon), and spiral wound gaskets. They are commonly applied in flange joints, pipe connections, heat exchangers, compressors, and pumps.
