This remarkable video had over 100,000 vides from my old youtube channel where I originally posted The soulful voice that comes out of the then- 17 year old young lady is remarkable. Her Mom is Lucy Crane, also a studio session singer and the family was in the sphere of influence when Dallas, TX was quietly known as the "jingle capital of the world." (yes , it was). Not anymore, but it was. I was just an intern at Sumet Bernet Recording Studios in Dallas when I first encountered incredibly skilled musicians, who could sight-read hastily prepared hand written music charts, and equally valued for singing/playing any style or difficulty level. And also showing up on time. This was filmed in the early 80's for Campbell Taggart, a corporation in Dallas that produced various bread products for mass consumption. They were one of my first regular freelance clients. Every job had to be produced in at least 3 versions- Rainbo, Colonial, and Kilpatricks brands. Earth grains and Bimbo were also in there. My job was to shoot and edit things like this, training, videos, factory bread operations, brand promotions (NASCAR, Iron Kids) and company picnics. Everything was 3/4" u-matic videotape. Apparently Kelly was a little outraged when this video first appeared on youtube. On the old youtube channel several Dallas jingle singers chime in (no pun) about who's-who in these "patty cake" themed radio commercials for white bread.. Can you imagine hearing this on the radio today? Can you imagine even listening to a radio today?
