GUIDANCE IN ANSWERING ESSAY TYPE QUESTION
i. Understand exactly what the question is inviting you to do
ii. Jot down your ideas in respect of particular Qtn. No need for order or coherence at this stage
iii. Look at the ideas or points you jotted down earlier and re-arrange them in logically coherent order.
iv. Authorities – Constitution and other Statutory material, Caselaw- should be deployed to substantiate claims . Briefly expound the authority when cited and link it to your argument.
v. Use appropriate linkages to connect points or ideas as well as paragraphs.
vi. Need to discursive even the question is framed in a tempting way to be narrative or merely expository . Critical thinking is required after successful completion of LLB so you will not be pardoned for being merely narrative or descriptive.

The increasing criminal prosecution of Members of Parliament in Ghana is seriously affecting the business of Parliament particularly having an evenly balanced number of MPs between majority and minority. A think tank group know as Friends of Rule of Law is soliciting views on the constitutional implications on prosecution and possible conviction of sitting MPs. These views will assist the group to decide on whether to go to Supreme Court for constitutional interpretation or simply push for reforms of the constitution. Submit your memorandum to the group

ii. Introduction: Map out areas concerned and generate issues
iii. Take one issue as a headline or subtopic and treat it by outlining principles and corresponding authorities;
iv. Analyse the issue in the light of the principles and relevant facts to build your argument and draw conclusion on that issue . Repeat this for all issues and then draw one big conclusion.
