It wasn't easy! We quickly learned that our off-grid build journey is going to be filled with chaos, comedy, and some major learning curves. In this video, Kaila gets some lessons in layout, tools & terms (like what an insulation batt is!), we zoom through the Joshua Tree forest in a borrowed side-by-side, and we soak up an unbelievable Arizona sunset.

But it wouldn't be a true homestead start without some drama! A minor DIY injury, a frantic search for our lost dog, and lots of laughter make this first project unforgettable. This is the honest reality of starting our dream self-sufficient, debt-free life from the ground up!
