The Blue Trail is an out and back from the Eastern Entrance. It's 6 miles each way and what drew me to it was the solitude. I just had a feeling I'd be able to hike the whole 12 miles without seeing any people.
There was someone presumably sleeping in their vehicle at the trailhead when I arrived, and there was someone working on their bike rack or car in the parking lot when I left, but that was the only human activity I saw. Nothing while out on the trail.
Sightings throughout the day included pollinators, spiders, deer, wasps, lizards, dragonflies, frogs, pigs, birds, and grasshoppers. I was thinking I might be able to find an alligator but other than a few splashes, I didn't notice any signs of them.
I guess one highlight of the day was the section under the powerlines. I witnessed a couple deer interacting in a playful manner. That was cool to see. Probably a younger brother trying to spar with its older brother.
Another fun moment was watching some beetles roll away the pig droppings they found. lol
As you;ll see, I do find the bear spray I mentioned dropping along the way, and of course I got caught in the rain. At least I go prepared. Just need to make sure I don't drop my umbrella next time.
