As society enters a new decade marked by rapid changes in science and technology, increased pressure on health systems and stresses in working environments, the rise of infectious disease crises and other health threats, there is a need to revisit the current model of academic medicine, to assess the functions of academic health sciences systems (AHSS), and to redefine their futures. The webinar explores the current state of academic medicine and how AHSS can contribute to better health and well-being in the context of a changing environment.
During this Lancet Webinar, presented in partnership with the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (NAM), Victor Dzau, President of the NAM, provides an overview of Revisiting academic health sciences systems a decade later: discovery to health to population to society, recently published in The Lancet. His presentation is followed by comments from a panel of experts, and a subsequent conversation moderated by Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet. The conversation is followed by a Q&A session.
