It's week 37 of 52 Weeks of Reefing, and this week we are taking an in depth look at SPS corals! This week we are diving into SPS corals starting with what makes them different than other corals, typical care standards like calcium and alkalinity consumption, flow, lighting, water quality and nutritional requirements.

SPS corals all have small tiny polyps and generally considerably less fleshy tissue. How small is small ? Well whatever you happen to think is small. Remember since it is not a term used the scientific community with agreed upon traits or characteristics its just a loosely thrown around term the reefing community has developed to help group the corals together in a usable fashion that doesn't require us all to learn the families, genus, and species.
