Golden Spike Historic Park, Promontory, Utah
Where the Intercontinental Railroad was officially completed in 1869, 7 years after it was started.
There's not much here except the park. There's a couple of driving loops with historical narrative that you can download, and there's a hike to see a big fill where a railroad bed was built. You can see where both companies were building parallel railroad beds, but track was never laid parallel.
The visitor's center is good. They sell several books about the building of the railroad, and I recommend Nothing Like It In The World by Stephen Ambrose. He's a very good writer, and I recommend his book on the Panama Canal as well.
The trains are real steam engines, and it's fun to watch them moved.
