I'm so excited to share our new range of indie sewing patterns with you - Viki Sews patterns. We currently have 41 of these fashion forward, super contemporary designs to choose from and I had real trouble narrowing it down for this video! I have chosen my favourite Viki Sews sewing patterns so far and made suggestions for the dressmaking fabrics you could use to sew them up in (see below for links). There are even more designs due in later this month too so watch out for those!

These indie patterns really are so exciting, fresh and new. The balance between simple shapes sprinkled with just the right amount of fun and interesting design details is spot on. Not only do the pretty design details look great, they are a fantastic way to build on your sewing skills too. In fact the founder suggests that as you collect her patterns you will create a library of sewing skills to refer back to.

The pattens come printed on tissue paper and are multi size. The instructions are in PDF format and there is a QR code to scan on the pattern tissue paper to access them. The instructions include helpful colour photographs alongside step by step instructions and additional tips and technique suggestions so it is easy to understand the sewing steps.

The designs I chose (find them all linked below) were the Rosalyn dress - a gorgeous, midi length dress with gathered cups, a criss cross across the chest neck tie, semi fitted skirt and bodice and beautiful, voluminous balloon sleeves. The Jacqueline trousers - a wide leg trouser with belt loops, fly front zip, leg creases, pleats and an elasticated back waistband. The Sylvie dress - a truly unique dress with faux wrap bodice including a shirt style collar, pleated front, tulip skirt, back yoke and trumpet sleeve cuffs. The Edwige blouse - a loose fitting, simple blouse with button and loop closures, button loops continuing onto the neckline towards the shoulder yoke, deep cuffs and balloon style sleeves. The Gloria dress - a super cute mini dress with simple bodice and gentle Aline skirt, sweetheart neckline and voluminous sleeves, gathered at the shoulder head, with a deep, shirred sleeve hem. The Lucia dress - a gorgeous, Hollywood siren style, bias cut slip dress with V neck front, low V back and criss cross spaghetti straps. The Lindsey hoodie - a casual fit sweatshirt with zip fastened funnel neck and kangaroo front pocket. All in all a glorious round up that certainly got my sewjo flowing in darkest, greyist January!
