The three fundamental things while using the eclectic "mixed matched look" while styling your throw pillows are: pattern, scale, and texture.
Mix the patterns. Some solid, some print, some stripe.
Scale: start with a 22" square pillow, followed by a 20" square, and then a tiny pillow or a lumbar.
Mix up the textures. Use linen, cotton, velvet, pillows with fringes and tassels to give an organic look like the pillow selections weren't "planned."
