✨ Ingredients:
1 cup arhar/toor dal
2.5 cups water (for pressure cooking)
1/2 tsp turmeric
Salt to taste
🔥 Tadka (Tempering):
2 tbsp ghee or oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
4-5 garlic cloves (sliced)
1-2 dry red chilies
1/2 tsp mustard seeds (optional)
A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
1 small onion (optional, finely chopped)
1 small tomato (optional, chopped)
Fresh coriander for garnish
🥄 Steps:
1. Wash and pressure cook dal with turmeric and water until soft (3–4 whistles).
2. Mash the cooked dal and add salt. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
3. In a separate pan, heat ghee. Add cumin, mustard seeds, garlic, red chilies, and hing.
4. (Optional) Add onions and tomatoes, sauté till soft.
5. Pour the tadka over the dal and mix well.
6. Garnish with fresh coriander. Serve hot with rice or chapati.
