A seldom (possibly never?) recorded piece from the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical. Orchestration and arrangement by Joe Glover.
Innovative as ever, CAROUSEL had no Overture, opening the show instead with a dazzling pantomime choreographed by Agnes DeMille set to a standalone piece called "The Carousel Waltz." The Overture's duty of compellingly compiling the standout tunes of the evening was taken on by the Ent'racte, a piece not even performed in many modern productions and an easy target for deletion on recordings.
Performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra for a 1994 radio broadcast.
