"Konjuh planinom" is a partisan song that tells the story of the death of a young partisan fighter, Husin miner Pejo Marković from Tuzla, on Mount Konjuh. The song was sung by partisan fighter and Pejo's comrade Miloš Popović Đurin.
The melody was taken from the Soviet song "Komsomolskoje serdce", or "Tam vdali za rekoj" (There We Went for the River) from 1924.
During the war, it was one of the most beloved and frequently sung songs in the 6th Proletarian East Bosnian Brigade. The song became popular after the fifth offensive, when other units also adopted it.
The song was covered several times after the war, the most famous being those by the music groups Bolero (1986, album "O Jesenjinu"), and Azra (1995, album "Anali") and singles by Nena Ivošević (1973) and Dragan Antic (1980).
Based on motifs from this song, the Yugoslav film "Konjuh planinom" was also made in 1966.

Serbo-Croatian:

Original Lyrics
KONJUH PLANINOM
Konjuh planinom, vjetar šumi, bruji,
lišće pjeva žalovite pjesme…
Borovi i jele, javori i breze
svijaju se jedan do drugoga…
Noć je u crno svu šumu zavila,
Konjuh stenje, ruši se kamenje…
Mrtvoga drugara, husinjskog rudara
sahranjuje četa partizana…
Kiše jesenje po grobu su lile,
bure snežne kosti su raznele…
A na vrh planine zastava se vije,
crvena od krvi proletera…
English Translation:
THROUGH MOUNT KONJUH
Across Mt. Konjuh, wind rustles, hums
Leaves sing mournful songs
Pines and firs, maples and birch
