Learn how to install a wall-mounted electric range exhaust hood and venting pipe step-by-step. I’ll guide you through assembling and connecting an Omega Kitchen hood from Cliq Studios, paired with a Broan-NuTone exhaust fan, both purchased with our kitchen cabinets. This tutorial is tailored for electric range cooktops and covers the process of connecting to an existing range hood through your roof.
When assembling the exhaust pipe, use three screws evenly spaced. For optimal installation, electric range hoods should be mounted 20-24 inches above the cooktop, while gas ranges require 24-30 inches, and induction cooktops 30-36 inches due to varying heat levels. Never lower a hood for gas or induction stoves, as they produce higher temperatures. But you can install an electric range hood up to 30" in height.
Consider the CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) rating of your fan motor, as it determines the hood height’s effectiveness in removing cooking gases and moisture. Consult both your installation manual and local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) for specific guidelines.
In our case, I installed the hood at 30 inches for optimal visibility, considering the height of my tall boys (6.6' and 6.4'). Follow along as I demonstrate the installation process to ensure a safe and efficient kitchen ventilation system.
