German Chancellor Olaf Scholz VISITS Canada: German Air Force A340-300 (A343) departs Montreal (YUL)

Welcome to Canada!
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Montreal, Toronto and Stephenville from August 21 - 23 2022. This is in fact the chancellor's first visit to Canada!
While in Montreal, he met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to discuss different investment and partnership opportunities between Canada and
Germany.
The 2 leaders discussed Ukraine, AI technologies and the automotive sector. The 2 leaders also discussed having our research Council's collaborate more, as well as an investment in science and technologies.

This visit comes only 3 weeks when the German Minister of Foreign Affairs (Annalena Baerbock) met with Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs (Mélanie Joly) to discuss strengthening Canada-Germany relationship and supporting
Ukraine.

This A340-300 was delivered to Lufthansa in 1999 before
joining the German Air Force fleet in 2011.
The German Air Force currently operates 2 A340-300's in their fleet but they are both expected to retire by the end of the year as they are being replaced by brand new A350-900's!

16+02 brought the German Minister of Foreign Affairs to Montreal 3 weeks ago. 16+01 (then it was D-AIGR) was the 2000th Airbus delivery when it was delivered in May 1999.
