My name is Michelle Dittrich and I'm a makeup artist. I've done makeup on a lot of celebrities Pam Anderson, Russell Simmons, Kanye West, Lenny Kravitz, Cynthia Nixon and I feel so lucky to do something I love so much. I am originally from Kansas and I grew up in a family with 4 girls. I was always experimenting on my sisters and every type of thing you could possibly imagine. When I first went to college I started working part time at a department store doing makeup and realized that people do it for the photo shoots and celebrities and so that became my dream. I moved to New York city when I was 20. Soon thereafter started getting jobs doing Nautica, Mens Grooming and working with other photographers doing beauty shots and then celebrities. Then I had an agent offer to represent me and really started doing it and making a very good living at it. What I like most about working as a makeup artist is you really have a chance to get to know people on a level that is usually very closed off from others, whether they be a celebrity or a model or somebodies grandma at their wedding or whom ever your doing. You have a chance to like really connect with them. What I'm trying to teach people is that everybody can do makeup. There is a big misconception that, oh that is so difficult or I could never do that smoky eye or I could not do that look on the runway and you absolutely can. Everybody can and you will play to your best attributes and I can show you how to do that.
