Part Two of my adventure on on the Indian River Lagoon, I set out south east of Haulover Canal. I'm still on the Mosquito Lagoon side of todays trip. I wanted to take a look at the ruins of old Allenhurst. A town that once thrived out here from the late 1800s until the early 1960s. It was once a popular fishing destination. It's boom occurred during the construction of the Haulover Canal. Nasa took over this part of Merritt Island and removed the towns that once stood here leaving behind these old concrete structures. The ruins of this old ghost town still stand and my trek out here yielded a lot of really cool surprises.
This area is off limits to foot traffic:
§ 26.21 General trespass provision.
(a) No person shall trespass, including but not limited to entering, occupying, using, or being upon, any national wildlife refuge, except as specifically authorized in this subchapter C or in other applicable Federal regulations.
