Karten Berghem 4 uurs race 19 10 2024, 3e plaats!

Na lange tijd weer eens een race op ‪@circuitparkberghem‬ .
Het werd uiteindelijk geen saaie race.....
Rik wist de kart knap op een 3e startplaats te zetten, vlak achter twee snelle teams van Panthaa Racing.
Na de start bleek al snel dat het tempo van de eerste 2 teams te hoog lag, de 3e plaats werd dus voorlopig ons hoogst haalbare.

Na een half uur nam Leo het over. Na 10 minuten begon de kart echter al te sputteren, de benzine was op. Zou nog niet moeten kunnen, maar was wel zo.
Een ongeplande tankstop dus, dit gooide de planning flink in de war en zorgde er ook voor dat we een extra tankstop ten opzichte van de rest moesten maken.
Na een hele goede stint van Joep nam Rik het weer over, nog steeds 3e. Hij ging super, was op dat moment de snelste op de baan.
Als snel kwam Rik op de radio met de mededeling dat het linker wiel los liep, lager eruit.
Weer een ongeplande stop en dus ook een kartwissel. Die kart was echter een stuk langzamer.
In overleg met de monteur van het circuit besloten om bij de volgende wissel ons vorige, inmiddels gerepareerde, kart weer terug te wisselen. Erg goed geregeld!

Hierna reden Chris, Leo en Joep nog een stint. Deze verliepen allemaal prima, met wel steeds na 40 minuten een tankstop omdat de tank dan leeg was. Eigenlijk zou 50 tot 60 minuten geen probleem moeten zijn.
Maar goed, niet opgegeven en daardoor toch een mooie 3e plaats behaald.
Joep en Chris bedankt voor het samen rijden, jullie waren zoals altijd supersnel en een felicitatie aan de teams van Panthaa met de welverdiende 1e en 2e plaats.

After a long time, another race at Circuit Park Berghem.
In the end it was not a boring race.....
Rik managed to place the kart in 3rd place on the grid, right behind two fast teams from Panthaa Racing.
After the start it quickly became apparent that the pace of the first 2 teams was too high, so 3rd place became our highest possible result for the time being.
After half an hour Leo took over. However, after 10 minutes the kart started sputtering and the fuel had run out. Shouldn't have been possible yet, but it was.

An unplanned fuel stop, which threw the planning into disarray and also meant that we had to make an extra fuel stop compared to the rest.
After a very good stint from Joep, Rik took over again, still 3rd. He went great, was the fastest on the track at that time.

Rik soon came on the radio to say that the left wheel had come loose and had to be lowered.
Another unplanned stop and therefore a kart change. However, that kart was a lot slower.
In consultation with the circuit mechanic, we decided to switch back our previous, now repaired, kart at the next change. Very well organised!

After this Chris, Leo and Joep drove another stint. These all went well, with a refueling stop after 40 minutes because the tank was empty. Actually, 50 to 60 minutes shouldn't be a problem.
Anyway, we didn't give up and ended up with a nice 3rd place.
Thanks Joep and Chris for riding together, you were super fast as always and congratulations to the Panthaa teams for the well-deserved 1st and 2nd place.
