✈️ Boeing Kicks Off 777-8 Freighter Production!
A new chapter begins! 📍 At the 777X Composite Spar Shop in Everett, Washington, Boeing has officially started building the world’s largest and most efficient twin-engine freighter the 777-8F.
With the first drill into the 108-foot wing spar, Boeing teammates marked the traditional start of major assembly. Around 100 proud employees gathered as Casey McDowell drilled that historic first hole a true milestone moment.
🔩 This aircraft isn’t just another freighter it’s the future of air cargo. Since its launch in 2022, 59 orders have already been placed by airlines and cargo operators worldwide. The first delivery is targeted for 2028.
💬 "You don’t forget these moments," said McDowell.
❤️ One of the most touching reflections came from Robin Thorning, an automation manager whose family has nearly 100 years of combined Boeing service.
"I helped build the first 777 early in my career. Now, being part of the 777-8F is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
🧵 Did you know? Each wing spar is 108 feet long and requires 392 miles of carbon fiber tape to fabricate that's the same distance as a road trip from Everett to Montana!
🏗️ Next up: The spars will head to the main factory, where they’ll be assembled into full wings alongside skin panels and stringers.
