The News: Road Safety First in Nalanda and Beyond
Starting with the New Year, the Bihar State Government has officially imposed a complete ban on the plying of E-Rickshaws (Totos) and locally assembled 'Jugaad' vehicles on all National Highways (NH) and State Highways (SH) across the state. This significant policy shift covers a vast network of nearly 10,000 kilometers, including 3,617 km of state highways and 6,389 km of national highways.
The decision comes after a spike in highway fatalities involving lightweight electric vehicles that struggle to maintain balance or provide adequate braking when surrounded by high-speed traffic.
