Each year, various shortlines throughout New Jersey operate a “Toys for Tots” train, which hands out toys to children in various towns. In 2019, the toys for tots train would be operated by the New York, Susquehanna and Western, Middletown and New Jersey, Dover and Delaware River, and Dover and Rockaway River Railroads. In this video, we watch as Dover and Delaware River’s train pulls into Washington, NJ, to hand out toys. Leading the way is DRRV GP10 #1823, followed by three boxcars and two private cars, NYC 43 and the Hickory Creek. This was the first year the train visited Washington, and later in the day it would run all the way to Phillipsburg, NJ. Video taken on December 7th, 2019 at 1:07 PM. Thanks for watching!
