I have had the Vertx SOCP Insert Panel for a couple years now and have used it on and off since I’ve owned it. My biggest complaint has been that it is too flimsy for my needs. I’ve never put a lot of weight on it, but it still bends almost at a 90-degree angle.
But here comes Grey Man Tactical and their Rigid MOLLE Panel that was designed to do the same thing, only with better results. The Grey Man Tactical Panel is better in almost every measurable standard.
The Vertx is slightly cheaper and thinner than the Grey Man Tactical. The thinner material of the Vertx means it is a little easier to mount MOLLE to it, but that thin material is also the reason why it is flimsy.
The rigidity is important to me as I change backpacks often depending on my mission for that day, week, or month. Having items that will ALWAYS be in my EDC bag make the Grey Man Tactical panel the best panel for me. It is easy to swap the loaded panel from one bag to the next and get on with your mission. The Vertx doesn’t always stand out in that regard. If you are sliding these panels into a bag with a lot of interior pockets, the flimsiness of the Vertx panel will make it harder for you.
If you are in the market for a rigid backpack panel, I would highly recommend the Grey Man Tactical panels and look forward to seeing them on the channel in the future.
We hope that this comparison helps you in your purchasing decisions.
