【エアロフォン】帰らざる日々（『紅の豚』より）- Bygone Days from Porco Rosso (Aerophone cover)

As a diehard fan of Studio Ghibli, I have long been fascinated by their delicately-woven fantasy worlds and thought-provoking plots, especially the countless masterpieces composed by Joe Hisaishi.

When I was a child, I was attracted to films such as Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki's Delivery Service. The film Porco Rosso to me in my childhood, on the other hand, felt like nothing more than a story centering on aircraft, love between comrades and long-known friends, and those well-filmed dogfight scenes. Intriguing, but it didn't leave a lasting impression.

However, as I grew up, met bunches of people, and really stepped into a world that I'd never seen before, I finally viewed the film from a brand-new perspective. The film is not only a showcase of the air pirates' glory in the Adriatic Sea, but serves as a gentle lament for those good old days that one could never return to.

It brings back those glorious, woeful, but precious memories, all seeming like they were gone with the wind yet remained on the vast sea all the time. Every time I watch this film as a grown-up, my heart fills with different feelings and emotions. I feel some of the most painful, happiest, and most priceless memories come back as Gina watches Porco skillfully showing off fancy moves in the sky as a salute to an old friend. (Side note: as I have been learning Italian for 1 and a half years, I watched this film in Italian version and I got a totally different feeling again! Love it as always.)

Therefore, this is why the first song of this channel is "Bygone Days." It reminds me of endless memories and those glorious times in the past. I use the Alto Sax tone to interpret how the old days, no matter how joyful or sorrowful, are already the point of no return.

今回の曲は、ジブリ映画『紅の豚』より「帰らざる日々」です。
子どもの頃から、ずっとジブリの大ファンでした。
映画を見るたびに、心が動かされて、感情があふれてきます。

『紅の豚』は、小さかった私にとって、ただただ「かっこいい男たちの空の物語」だと思っていました。
でも、大人になってから改めて見ると、まったく違う印象を受けました。
この映画は、時代に刻まれた夢、かけがえのない人との記憶、そして過ぎ去った日々の物語なんだと気づきました。

観るタイミングによって、毎回ちがう感動があります。
特にこの曲は、私にとって大切で、切なくて、そしてどこか楽しい思い出を運んでくれる一曲です。

だから、このチャンネルで演奏する最初の曲はこれにしました。
今回は、郷愁を感じさせる音を表現したくて、アルトサックスの音色を選びました。
この気持ちが、聴いてくださる方に届いたら嬉しいです。
